Does anyone remember listening to DJs who were good at "Hitting the Post"? This was a special technique where DJs could start talking during the instrumental beginning of a song and then stop talking just in time before the vocals of the artist started.
As a kid I would wait to the end of a given year and then record the top 100 songs of that year from radio as it was being broadcasted and counted down to my cassette tape. That was such a thirill for me.
Music today does not carry the melodic quality that it had years ago. Lyrics in a song can mean so much too. One of the great modern song writers I admire to this very day is Harry Chapin from the 70s. One of his great songs is "Taxi" from 1974.
A movie producer out there can take just about any song, past or present and promote it very effectively in their movie. I truly believe they have the power to promote a song in the proper manner for the right audience.
I would love to meet Neil Diamond and ask him what inspired him to write such meaningful songs over the years. He is truly a talented writer of our time.
I enjoy watching movies more because I learn so much more from watching movies especially historical movies. Reading a book is fine but I get more absorbed into the story by watching a movie about a topic. I tend to watch a movie again multiple times as I keep learning from it the more I watch...
Are there still any record collectors out there today? If you are a record collector please comment about your record collecting hobby. I have been collecting 45 rpm records, cassette tapes, LP albums and compact discs since I was 8 years old and I still have my collection to this very day...
I truly enjoy youtube music to be one of the best free services. I can find just about any song that I want in either video or digital audio format. There truly is an enormous amount of historical music files on this serivce. I encourage anyone to use it.
Thanks for the compliment. I enjoy rock and roll the most as I find that it is the most diverse music ever created by many of the talented musicians who have contributed their talents to this genre of music. I especially like some of the music and talented writers of the 70s and of course the...
I think that Snoop Dog is a very talented rapper. His message is pure and direct in the field of rap. He sends a message to the listeners which is urban and real very real.
"No Good To Cry" by the Wildweeds released back in 1967. This recording should have done much better than charting # 80 on Billboard. I truly believe that if it were released today in a movie, it would chart much higher and be liked by a whole new generation.
One recording that I really like that came out in 1967 is "No Good To Cry" by the Wildweeds. This song really never got the recognition that it truly deserves. It ranked at about #80 on the billboard charts back then and I could never understand why it did not chart higher than that. I truly...
I feel that music that has a lot of soul and feeling really makes me feel good. I also tend to listen to the instruments in a song. Especially if it is in good stereo where I listen to every instrument playing in that song.
