Ever discovered a great song from a movie?

I’ve discovered quite a few great songs from movies. In fact there are some songs sang for movies only but I ended up downloading them online because I enjoy them.
An example is “On my way” from the movie Marry me.

Have you ever discovered a great song from a movie?

I first heard The Killing Moon by Echo & the Bunnymen in Donnie Darko and instantly fell in love with it. Had to look it up right away, and now they’re one of my most listened-to bands.

Definitely yes, movies have introduced me to some amazing songs I wouldn’t have found otherwise. “Shallow” from A Star Is Born is one that immediately comes to mind.

That is cool. I think artists also pay movie producers to feature the songs in movies as a mode of advertisement, don’t agree?

I had never heard Harry Styles' "Sign of the Times" until it was performed in the karaoke scene in Project Hail Mary.

Of course. There are so many great soundtracks out there. My favorite would have to be the Garden State soundtrack. If you're into indie music from the '00s, check it out. It's beautiful from beginning to end. Romeo + Juliet would be a close second. Damn, it's good. As a kid, I heard all sorts of oldies and classics on movies before I heard them anywhere else. Remember Ferris Bueller lip-syncing to "Twist and Shout?" When I was in the junior high, my friends and I all listened to The Crow soundtrack a ton, also Dazed and Confused and Singles. Magnolia had some amazing tracks. I'm pretty sure that's where I heard Aimee Mann for the first time. Anderson actually used several lines from her songs in dialogue in the movie. Does the I Am Sam soundtrack count? Those were all Beatles covers, so I knew the songs, just not those versions. Some of them were fantastic. None of them was as good as Fiona Apple's "Across the Universe" from Pleasantville, though. That one had wonderful music, too. And of course, I've learned a good number of songs from Tarantino films over the years. Oh, and I almost forgot Trainspotting. Can't leave that one out. I don't believe there was a single song I didn't already know, but I'll give a nod to The Guardians of the Galaxy soundtracks. All three films are packed to the brim with killer music. There are more. There are a ton more, but that's all I can think of at the moment. Good thing you didn't ask about TV shows, lol.
