How easy is it for musicians to come up with a verse?

I just read in the news of a musician in my country who came up with a verse in less than an hour of being in the studio! That's surprising, it goes to show that some do have that talent.
Although I wasn't there when it happened, I'd like to believe it is actually possible.
How fast can musicians come up with a verse in a song they are featured in?

It depends on how good the artist is. There are some people that can pull it off in no time, while others need more time. But those that can pull it off easily deserve their respect.

Indeed they deserve that respect. It goes to show that the talent is there in the first place. It will probably take me the whole day to come up with a line 😃

Well if their songs are a hit they get good payment for it. They also receive the respect of the masses as celebrities.

Some musicians are talented, it doesn't take them anything to make a verse while some needs more time to think and come up with a verse. People that are talented usually use their life experience to come up with a verse so fast.

Most of musicians actually base their songs on what they have experienced in life. So this makes it easier a little for them to pull it off.

There are people that can sleep and wake up with a verse or title for their song while it took some people time to think and pen their thoughts down.
Yes we are all different. That is why everyone just have to understand their abilities and work with it.

If you don't understand your ability, it will be so difficult on you. That's why we need to get things right especially when we are still younger.
Every young person still has that advantage of age. The older ones do as well, but it is quite easier for every young ones.

Every young person have all the time in this world to make it but you know that distractions are more when we are younger. We try to pick up when we start to get older.

It depends on the type of song it is.

  1. Braggadocious
  2. Hairbrush
  3. Journalistic
  4. Crooning
The further down on the list, the harder it is to write.

We can also classify emotion like this
  • Chirpy
  • Serene
  • Solemn
  • Ghastly
Ditto

My background comes from writing stories, I was writing fiction before writing songs. I can write a short story (3 pages of A4 and maybe 3 extra if it overflows) in one hour, if not, then two.

Well I could write a verse in less than an hour but I think when an album will be released on Amazon and iTunes, to have something immutable that cannot be changed whilst published, I'll want to space it out.

My first album Steel Crate with 6 proper lyrics (excluding one rap song), well it took me 8 weeks to write over 19 cumulative hours.

Only two of those songs are crooning songs, both are subdued. Those were the hardest ones!

I have never been to songwriting workshops, where a bunch of songwriters just bounce ideas off a singer and slam down fragments and verses in a flurry, as I find them exploitative. Also I have my own songs so I can stand on my own two feet.

I've never written a ballad. Maybe one day!
